Packaging Collective Partners With Pro2Pac 2019

Updated: Mar 18, 2019

Packaging Collective co-founders, Sanjay Patel and David Harding-Brown, are part of the judging panel at this year’s Pro2Pac Design Challenge.

The event will see 15 pack-focussed students from London South Bank University (LSBU) contend for the gold prize of a week’s work experience with design agency Kinneir Dufort in Bristol. The prize is to be presented by Jason Glasser, CEO of Beverage Media Digest and Niall McRiner, Design Consultant at Kinneir Dufort.

Sanjay and David were also selected as Pro2Pac ambassadors, a team of industry experts and specialists responsible for ensuring the event was future-focused and responded to attendee and exhibitor needs in terms of content and innovation. As part of their role, the duo created the brief for the Design Challenge competition.

David said: “The Design Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience of working in packaging design. As judges, Sanjay and I will be on the lookout for functional packs with impressive ergonomics that consider the user journey and take into consideration current consumer trends such as sustainability and minimalism.”

Sanjay added: “With many brands struggling to adapt their packaging for e-commerce, we felt that designing a brief around this issue would offer up interesting results. David and I have been astonished not only by the ingenuity shown in terms of design and production, but also the quality of finish. Regardless of position, it’s safe to say that all submissions have surpassed our expectations and offer a glimpse towards the capabilities of up-and-coming packaging talent. We encourage everyone from business owners and industry professionals to those currently building the foundations of their career, to show their support and recognise the efforts behind these impressive creations.”

Further to judging entries, Sanjay will be taking part in two panel sessions at the Outside The Box theatre – the event’s hub for invaluable information and advice.‘Packaging why and what – where are we going in the future?’, commences on March 18 at 11:15 am, while ‘Retailer Panel Debate – Changing Consumer Perceptions’, begins on March 19 at 1:30 pm.

Taking place from March 18-20, 2019 at ExCel, London, Pro2Pac brings together over 120 leading suppliers to reveal the best of manufacturing innovation, packaging solutions, and printing and labelling products. Pro2Pac is co-located with The International Food & Drink Event to form a dynamic gathering of producers, manufacturers, technologists and design specialists.

The Packaging Collective will be on stand N1460 for those wishing to discover more about the organisation and secure their free membership. The stand will feature a selection of sustainable chairs and tables made by creative packaging supplier, BoxMart.
